Primitivo Capoforte wins the “Argento del Sindaco 2015”, yet another prestigious accolade.
The 14th International Wine Competition "La Selezione del Sindaco" was held in Oeiras, Portugal from May 29 to 31, 2015. The silver medalist, 2012 Primitivo Masseria Capoforte, confirmed its distinctive reputation among the 1,100 wines judged by an 80-member panel including enologists, journalists and experts from around the world.
The deep ruby-hued Primitivo Capoforte has an intense, complex nose dominated by red berries with black cherry and plum. Full-bodied, smooth and round, this is a purebred Puglia label that has certainly earned its keep for the Ceschin family, winner of several awards for its Puglia wines and for those produced at Bepin De Eto winery in San Pietro di Feletto in the Veneto.
The competition, run by the Associazione Nazionale Città del Vino and the only international contest with backing from the Italian Ministry of Agricultural Policies and the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV), aims to honor quality wines (DOCG, DOC and IGT) and their terroirs. It's the perfect synergy of public and private, where mayors serve as spokespeople for their local wines.
The date of the awards ceremony has not been announced yet, but will probably take place this year at EXPO in Milan.
