Did you know that our vineyards send down their roots into what was an ocean seabed a million years ago?
Earth and sea, in fact, have always encountered each other in Masseria Capoforte’s wines as well, and the fossils that are always appearing in our soils are concrete proof of the sensory descriptions we give of our wines. This ecosystem, with its flora and fauna, concretely testifies, in fact, to that ancient ocean floor, simply one more confirmation of the intimate interrelationship that has always bound together our winery and the history of our corner of earth. Right here in Puglia’s Salento area, the gift of sea and rock, along the roadway trod long ago by Jesuit monks and noble knights, rises our own winery, whose walls hear echoes of even older eras. A special place, indeed, where space and time cyclically renew themselves, their generosity responding to the honest work of man.
